The Midi Music Company

Celebrating 30 years of inspiring creative minds

The Midi Music Company (MMC) celebrates three decades of music, empowerment and impact, with investment from Sony Music UK’s Social Justice Fund.

London, 19th February 2025 Over the past three decades, MMC has made a profound impact by providing access to music education, supporting emerging artists and using music as a tool for positive transformation.

MMC has advised, supported and assisted the likes of Yussef Dayes, Steam Down, Kae Tempest, Shingai, Rebekah Reid, Chainska Brassika, and many others to international acclaim.

The Sony Music Social Justice Fund (SJF) was founded in 2020, to address injustice and racism. The SJF team at Sony Music UK have focused on how to support anti-racist initiatives and educational opportunities for under-served communities in Britain, addressing structural inequality for lasting change.

MMC has achieved so much over the past 30 years, and they are looking forward to their bright future in partnership with Sony Music UK’s Social Justice Fund, as both entities remain committed to its core values of anti-racism and tackling injustices. Support will come in the form of financial assistance, designed to fund MMC’s music education programme. As well as, upgrading MMC’s studio, and the launch of a new podcast programme, by and for young people, broadcast on Radio Lewisham, in partnership with the Lewisham Young Mayor’s Team.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, MMC reflect on how proud they are of the incredible children and young people who have been instrumental in its journey. MMC will continue to empower the next generation of young musicians and creators through their programmes and projects. This significant milestone would not have been possible without the dedication and passion of those who believe in the power of music to transform lives. More announcements to follow regarding MMC’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

“MMC is delighted to celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2025 with the announcement of new investment from the Sony Music UK’s Social Justice Fund, which will allow us to develop a free podcast programme for young people, partnering with Radio Lewisham and the Lewisham Young Mayor’s team, along with being able to complete a long-awaited upgrade to our recording studio. It’s a very exciting time to work with Sony Music and create more pathways for our members and students to benefit from positive experiences and opportunities.

We will be announcing more exciting news as part of our 30th anniversary celebrations this year and we take this opportunity to THANK our supporters and stakeholders, and most importantly all of our children and young people for being part of this inspirational creative journey.”Wozzy Brewster, OBE FRSA – Founder | Executive Director of The Midi Music Company

We’re delighted to be partnering with The Midi Music Company (MMC) on these programmes for the next three years, which will provide young people in their community with free music camps, podcasting opportunities and access to a new and improved studio. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on the young people MMC work with and the wider community as a whole.”- Charlotte Edgeworth, Director of Diversity, Inclusion & Social Impact at Sony Music UK
