Brussels, 24th June 2024

BMI has joined the Independent Music Publishers International Forum’s (IMPF) as a Friend and Supporter.
Founded in 1939, BMI is currently the largest music rights management organisation in the US, acting as the bridge between songwriters and the businesses that want to play their music publicly.
As a global leader in music rights management, BMI represents over 22.4 million musical works created and owned by more than 1.4 million songwriters, composers and music publishers.
The Friends and Supporters of IMPF is a category of engagement that IMPF offers to entities or individuals that wish to align with IMPF, but don’t meet the statutory criteria to join. It is a way to support the mission of IMPF, and its members, and is aimed at those who would like to have an open and transparent relationship with the independent music publishing community worldwide.
John Coletta, Senior Vice President International at BMI said ”We are excited to partner with IMPF to strengthen our shared goal – to protect and advance the rights of global music creators and copyright owners, while ensuring fair compensation for their work. Working together, BMI and IMPF are well positioned to promote and support the interests of songwriters, composers and publishers, ensuring they can continue to deliver incredible music to the world.”
The IMPF Board said: “As the largest music rights organisation in the world’s largest music market, BMI is an ally for songwriters and publishers, not just through effective licensing but also through ongoing advocacy and education. With our aligned missions, IMPF looks forward to continuing to work alongside BMI for the benefit of all.”
IMPF

IMPF is a network and meeting place for independent music publishers globally. We want to take advantage of the incredible opportunities to have our music on every service, licensed easily and without borders. And most importantly, we want our writers and our companies rewarded fairly for their work.
