ACTRA RACS partners with Noctil to enhance rights management & royalty distribution with automated metadata processing

Noctil’s AI and ML technology enables ACTRA RACS to substantially reduce its operational work and the cost of manual data processing.

McLean, VA, USA, 6th September 2024 Canada’s ACTRA Recording Artists’ Collecting Society (ACTRA RACS) has teamed up with Noctil, a no-code metadata platform, to streamline the ingestion and processing of artist and sound recording metadata. This collaboration significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of the organisation’s operations, reducing operational costs and leading to improved rightsholder remuneration.

The new solution automates data ingestion from various sources, VRDB (SCAPR), other Music Licensing Societies, and IPD (SCAPR) with various standards and formats, including DDEX, CSV, XML, etc.

Noctil’s platform uses AI and Machine Learning technologies to improve matching and identification. This high-quality, error-free data has streamlined the claims process, resulting in faster and more accurate distribution of royalties to recording artists and performers.

The project represents ACTRA RACS’ commitment to utilizing cutting-edge technology to improve its services. Noctil’s custom-configured solution provides a range of functionalities, including bulk updates based on business rules and real-time integration with the company’s internal IT systems.

Looking ahead, ACTRA RACS plans to leverage Noctil’s capabilities further by integrating additional external data sources and automating more processes. This continued investment in technology will ensure efficient operations and continued improvement in artist remuneration.

Andrew Karis, Senior Administrator, ACTRA RACS, said: “The customization and ease of integration gives us flexibility to adapt to a changing ecosystem. We’re pleased to continue working with the Noctil team and work towards new levels of success.

Jacob Varghese, Founder and Director, Noctil, said: “Unmatched, duplicate or incomplete metadata can lead to delayed or missed royalty payments for artists and other rightsholders. That’s why we built Noctil from the ground up to help organizations such as ACTRA to streamline their metadata ingestion and royalty distribution processes. Not only does our AI-powered platform improve operational efficiency, but it also ensures accurate and timely rights distribution, which benefits both ACTRA and rightsholders.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship with ACTRA to provide solutions that ultimately benefit the artists the organisation represents.”
