Black & White describes the colour sweetly sliding away from the world and the worries around what it means. In the frame of mental health, Black & White combines indie and neo soul to lull the listener into a captivating new sound world, with you stuck inside it. Chainska Brassika return from lockdown armed with their first singleĀ āDown the BargeāĀ from their forthcoming albumĀ āTales of a Londonerā, recorded, produced, and mixed by Grippa Laybourne from the infamous Hempolics, and mastered in Canada by Jesse King aka Dubmatix.
āDown the Bargeā depicts a proper day out with the lads in London, where going down the pub is a way of life – London wouldnāt be complete without a pub! The original social centres of the capital are famous the world over and sometimes all a Londoner needs is to drown the weekās sorrows with a trip down the local boozer. This rocking, upbeat single from the band is a homage to their favourite ālocalā and tells the story of a young manās day and journey to that final destination.
āCome on son, weāre going down the Barge!ā
āThe World Reggae Contest champions are at the forefront of the UKās new Ska movement and have a distinctive vibrance in their sound that combines sweet melodic vocals, rough lyrics with high energy ska rhythms and reggae passages soaked in magnificent brass lines.ā

‘Wolf And Nina’ features BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year Deschanel Gordon and multi-genre cellist/vocalist Midori Jaeger. “I wrote this about the reassurance you get from having non-human companions in situations of stress. In this case my cats in the pandemic; their blissful ignorance to whateverās going on in the human world, and their lack of change in behaviour being a comfort”. With Midori’s lyrics touching on the strains of relationships, ‘Wolf And Nina’ goes beyond the boundaries of jazz within folk-tinged song writing and ethereal atmospheres.
